Well, we are living up to our initial self-proclamation that we are in fact, not the blogging sort of people. Unfortunately.
However, we are hoping to crank out a few more of these in the near future. So many of you have been faithful to ask about our adoption and where we stand in the process. That means a lot to us and we are grateful for all the thoughts and prayers. Here are some answers to the questions I know some of you are thinking… 1) We are adopting from the United States, Texas to be specific 2) We have said that we are open to taking in a child from 0-2 years old {actually we said we would take up to 2 kids, in the case of twins} 3) boy or girl 4) and nope, there’s no good average time of how long we’ll wait. But, that’s okay. We feel content in the the waiting.
Back in September, Mike and I were able to meet with our adoption agency in person. This was amazing to actually speak face to face with the wonderful people who “get us” and understand our motive behind this adoption. Aggieland Adoptions has graciously agreed to work with us despite the rare circumstances we bring to the table (living overseas, military family, etc.) It felt so good to get some more direction and see where we stood in the administrative process. I felt like we were looking at one of those oversized maps you see at malls or theme parks that have a red dot saying “you are here”. This was good, we needed it.
Over the months that followed, we worked on our Life Book and remaining paperwork. The Life Book is a book of pictures of our family, letters from us to the prospective birth parents, our personal testimonies, forms about our tastes, preferences, personality, etc. We were able to use a bit of creativity, but it was harder than it seemed! It’s so difficult to know what to say. But we are very relieved that it is completed and on it’s way to Texas! The last box we need to check is a CPR class that is required by the state. We’ll take a class on Saturday and be DONE with our portion of the process.
Now we wait and pray.
We invite you to pray along with us. Please pray for the birth mothers that will view our life book. Please pray for our family as we wait for this child. And for this baby, that the Spirit of God is near while God creates and forms this precious life.
We’d like to share our anthem song right now. Mike and I heard the song No Longer Slaves in church a few months back and instantly thought of our third child. These words bring me chills:
From my Mothers womb
You have chosen me
Love has called my name
I’ve been born again, into your family
Your blood flows through my veins
So if you have a moment, watch the music video and we hope that your heart feels as encouraged as ours.

Thanks again for being a part of our journey and we’ll talk to you soon.
